Our review
f you’re planning a trip up-island, save this reel right now because Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria (📍 2310 Alberni Hwy, Coombs, BC) is a mandatory stop!
Let’s be real: usually, a "family-friendly" road trip restaurant means greasy fast food or a chaotic diner where you're inhaling your meal just to leave faster. But Cuckoo is a total parenting loophole. You get a stunning, upscale Italian patio with incredible pasta, pizza and wine, while your kids get the freedom to actually breathe.
We had a seat outside on the gorgeous patio, and honestly, being able to let S look around without feeling the pressure of a quiet, stuffy dining room made all the difference. It proves you don't have to sacrifice a beautiful lunch date just because you have a toddler in tow!
ꕤ Table for Three Scorecard ꕤ
🚪 ACCESS: It was accessible but there’s a line-up, so better come prepared!
🛋️ VIBE: Fancy Italian vibe but not intimidating.
🚼 FACILITIES: Family rooms + Changing pads in the washroom(!!!) I mean, come on! 🏆
🦖 CHAOS TOLERANCE: 3/5: Adult-leaning, but hey, they have what you need as a family.
🌿 WIND-DOWN SPOT: Goats on the roof + North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre nearby—can’t get any better than that!
